ATHLETICS AT
INDEPENDENCE
Our Athletic Department is thriving here at ICS. We offer a competitive after-school sports program that allow students to play against other Christian schools in the OC. Sports include basketball, soccer, volleyball and flag football.
THE ARTS AT INDEPENDENCE
ICS students gain access to CAPA (Cornerstone Academy of Performing Arts)–OC’s only Christian focused arts program. Available dance classes include dance tap, ballet, hip hop, jazz, contemporary & tumbling. Additionally, ICS offers music class (including music fundamentals, band, orchestra and choir), as well as private instrument and voice lessons right here on campus!
Student Life
One of the many positives of a small school is the benefit of close friendships. Independence is often described by its students and parents as “one big family”. The faculty and staff really care about the students and their families. Themed days promote a sense of teamwork and creativity. Students gain valuable experience with public speaking and performance during our weekly chapels End of semester awards programs acknowledge not only academic excellence but character development.
OUR HISTORY
Our school was founded in 1975. Throughout the last 45 years, God has blessed our ministry and we currently offer classes Preschool through Eighth Grade. In 2010, we moved to our newly built, beautiful facility at Cornerstone Church. Our school is a place where each student has the opportunity to develop into the incredible person that God created them to be. Through the years our students have continued to build upon the foundation that was started here at ICS and have become successful and well-respected members of society. In fact, many of our former students have come back to volunteer, work for or have their own children attend school here at Independence Christian and we think that says a lot!
