OUR HISTORY

Independence Christian School was founded in 1975 in Orange, California. In 2010, we moved to Anaheim and into our newly built, beautiful facility at Cornerstone Church. Our school was named in honor of our nation’s bicentennial, marking a meaningful beginning to our journey in Christian education.

Over the past 50 years, God has faithfully sustained and blessed our ministry. While many Christian schools have closed over time, we have been privileged to remain open and continue serving families. We see this as God’s provision, allowing us to keep offering Christ-centered education to those who desire it.

Our heart is that no family seeking a Christian education would go without one. We are committed to being a place where students can grow into the incredible person God created them to be, while being equipped to flourish in every area of life.

Student Life

One of the many benefits of a small school is the opportunity to build close friendships. Independence is often described by students and parents as “one big family,” where faculty and staff genuinely care about students and their families.

Themed days foster teamwork, school spirit, and creativity, while weekly chapels provide students with valuable experience in public speaking and performance. End-of-semester awards programs celebrate not only academic achievement, but also character development.

THE ARTS AT INDEPENDENCE

Independence Christian School offers a variety of on-campus arts opportunities designed to help students grow in creativity, confidence, and expression. Students participate in music classes and musical theater performances as part of the school program, developing skills in collaboration, performance, and artistic expression.

Private instruction in music, voice, and dance is available through CAPA (Cornerstone Academy of Performing Arts), which is also located on our campus. CAPA offers classes in tap, ballet, hip hop, jazz, contemporary, and tumbling, providing students with additional opportunities to develop their artistic gifts in a Christ-centered environment.

ICS partners with CAPA to support families by helping students transition from the school day into CAPA classes. When needed, students may be escorted to and from after-school care to ensure they can safely participate, even when parents are unable to pick them up.

ATHLETICS AT

INDEPENDENCE

Our Athletic Department is thriving at ICS. We offer a competitive after-school sports program that gives students the opportunity to compete against other Christian schools throughout Orange County while developing teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Sports offerings include basketball, soccer, volleyball, and flag football.

Through athletics, students also grow in character, leadership, and faith as they learn to honor God both on and off the field.
